4 years ago, the 'Soul' wasn't a word I was comfortable with using. I suppose I preferred to leave that daunting (and possibly ludicrous) word/concept/whatever it was(!) to reassuringly meaningless pop songs or thick spiritual books destined only to gather dust... And I really wasn't into either of those things.
Then one day in 2014 I took a chance on a free exhibition at the White Cube in Bermondsey, London, and saw a some things that changed me. The journey between then and now is too long for a blog post. Suffice it to say, I have recently completed a masters degree dedicated to exploring the concept of the 'divine' in popular culture, I can safely say the 'The Soul', 'Pop Music' and 'The Spiritual' are probably my favourite topics.
The song i'd like to share this month is one I released last year. 'The Soul Does' is a, um, 'setting' (?!) of this piece by Tracey Emin. I have her to thank for alerting me to this beguiling topic which has changed my life..
